Smart Fuel Pass is not only a technical charging platform. It connects the charging process, payments, documents and support for drivers and for charging-station owners or operators.
Who does what
The charging-station owner or operator controls its locations, chargers and tariffs. Smart Fuel Pass connects the customer portal, mobile and web journeys, charging communication, roaming, payment terminals and charging-session processing. Ultima Payments maintains payment accounts and provides the financial settlement layer.
From charging to settlement
- The driver adds funds to a registered account or starts an ad-hoc card payment.
- The selected amount is reserved before charging.
- Charging data is received and the applicable tariff is calculated.
- Only the final charge is settled; the unused part of the reservation is released.
- The agreed amount is credited to the charging-station owner or operator through its Ultima Payments account.
Documents and countries
Charging documents and account statements are separate. Registered charging is billed in consolidated periods; charging in different countries can result in separate documents because the local Smart Fuel Pass company and local VAT rules apply.
