How to connect a charger to Smart Fuel Pass using OCPP

This guide is for the owner, operator or installer of a charging station. OCPP is the technical connection through which the charger communicates with Smart Fuel Pass.

Before you begin

• The owner or operator agreement must be active.
• Create the charging location and add the physical charger in the portal.
• You need administrator or installer access to the charger's configuration.

Connection procedure

1. Open the charger at the correct location in the Smart Fuel Pass portal and copy the connection address and charger identifier shown there.
2. Open the charger's service or cloud configuration. The exact menu depends on the manufacturer.
3. Set the supported OCPP connection, normally OCPP 1.6 JSON over WebSocket, and enter the backend address and charger identifier exactly as provided by the portal.
4. Save the settings and restart or reconnect the charger if required by its manufacturer.
5. Wait until the charger is shown online. Only then configure its connectors, technical parameters and tariffs.
6. Test the correct connector, displayed price, start and stop of charging before public use.

If you cannot change the charger settings

Smart Fuel Pass cannot change a manufacturer's protected settings without access. Ask the charger supplier, manufacturer or installer to enter the OCPP data. Do not try random URLs: an incorrect address or identifier prevents the charger from appearing online.

What to send to technical support

Contact techsupport@smartfuelpass.com and include the agreement number, location name, charger manufacturer and model, charger identifier, current status and exact error message. Add screenshots of the OCPP configuration without passwords or private keys.
