This guide is for an authorised installer or service technician of a Smart Fuel Pass outdoor payment terminal. Follow the PAX IM30 manufacturer manual and local electrical rules for mounting and power work.
First start and activation
- Connect power and internet, then start the terminal on its main screen.
- At the first start, note only the last four visible digits of the serial number. Contact Smart Fuel Pass Support to approve the terminal initialisation for the charging location.
- Once approval is in place, initialisation runs automatically from the main screen. Do not change the development or test environment.
Open the service menu safely
Tap and hold the blue icon in the upper-left corner for about two seconds, then enter the terminal service PIN. An authorised location manager can view this PIN in Charging location management (PoS Manager) > Payment terminals. Do not disclose the PIN, portal credentials, payment keys or card data.
Configure connectivity
- Ethernet: use DHCP unless the site's network administrator requires a static IP address.
- Wi-Fi: configure the approved site network in Wi-Fi settings. Use the network test to confirm signal and internet reachability.
- Mobile data: insert an approved SIM with its SIM PIN disabled; the mobile settings should then configure automatically.
- Backup order: when several connections are available, the documented priority is Ethernet, then Wi-Fi, then mobile data.
Assign the right connectors
In service settings, use the location settings to choose which connectors appear on this particular terminal. Enable Show newly added connectors only if every future connector at the location should appear automatically. Use the Visible switch per connector to hide connectors served by another terminal.
Commissioning test
- Confirm the terminal shows the correct location and operator contact details.
- Run the network test.
- Check that every displayed connector has the intended tariff and status.
- Perform a controlled card or contactless payment test, start a charging session, open it by QR code, then end it and verify the receipt flow.
Service errors and escalation
Errors such as #1001 (payment application missing) or #1002–#1012 (payment application configuration) need Smart Fuel Pass remote service. Do not reinstall the payment application or change card-key settings locally. For any escalation provide the location, last four visible serial-number digits, exact message or code, connection type, affected connector and time. The terminal is monitored remotely; a reboot or remote maintenance action may be requested by support.
